2017

Now that this incredible year has come to a close, I wanted to recount some of the milestones the team here at Bollinger Motors was able to accomplish.

 

Reveal

It seems like a long time ago, but we just revealed our B1 prototype on July 27. Just 5 months ago! It was a great event that really changed everything for us. The response was incredible and it hasn't let up yet. The automotive press has been great to us and you've all shared so many stories with friends and family. I really appreciate it.

 

Testing

Since the reveal we took the truck to the test track here in the Catskills, did a lot of dyno testing to get raw numbers and data, and trailered it to Colorado and Moab and salt flats to test it in real-world off-road conditions. The truck performed really well and outdid the Jeep Wrangler we had with us. We only scratched up the truck a bit, which was fortunate considering we were heading to shows later in the month.

 

Auto Shows

First, it was the SEMA show in Las Vegas where a lot of people were introduced to the B1. Leaving the frunkgate and hood open really made people stop in their tracks and ask where the engine is. I think we were able to convince a lot of ICE guys about the benefits of our all-electric truck. After that it was on to the LA Auto Show. This was our first official public showing of the truck. A lot of people traveled to the show just to see the B1. I was there for the second half of the show dates and I got to meet a lot of you. Thanks so much for coming out and giving me your feedback. I am taking notes and the team is responding. The B1 will be badder than ever as we continue to improve it.

 

 

Jay Leno

And we were crazy fortunate to meet Jay Leno when he taped the B1 for his show at the Condor National Park. The segment should air sometime this spring. He's a great guy and had some good feedback for me.

 

2018

As we go into the new year, I want to update you on what's happening and what we're planning for. The truck is now back in the Hobart shop, where the guys are taking it apart, cleaning it thoroughly and making necessary improvements.

 

Detroit

We have recognized the need to be closer to our engineering partners and vendors, all of whom are based in Detroit. So we are making plans to move the company to the Motor City by this spring. It's an exciting time as we move into the next phase. We have partnered with an amazing company that will do all of our simulation work and help us optimize every piece for production. And since the hundreds of vendors we'll be working with are all in that area, the move will help ensure we bring this beast to production. And Detroit is an amazing city. I've been a number of times now and I'm really excited to move there.

 

 

Pricing

We are a bit behind in our announcing of the SRP. We are working with a supply chain provider who is helping us finalize our bill of materials pricing, which is the most important step to getting to our final price point. This phase should wrap up by end of January and then we can make an announcement. Stay tuned.

 

New Website

The new site is under construction and we'll be going live with it in January. In addition to more info we'll have some merch on there as well – like Paco's hat.

 

 

4-Door

We have started the build of the 4-door prototype. Above is a rendering by Ross. The new truck won't simply be a stretching of the 2-door B1, we are looking at creating a new shape to the chassis that will allow even more ground clearance. Also, we're trying out a new battery pack that will be more energy dense. All the better for more range. More on our social media about the build as it happens. We hope to reveal the fully working prototype early this summer.

 

Pre-Order

Soon we'll share our schedule for getting the B1 into production and put a Pre-Order page on our website. You'll be able to choose 2- or 4-door, and a few other main options, and put down a deposit. Your spot in the reservations will be kept.

Il existe un "coc" européen ? Probablement pas non plus !

Donc passage en homologation à titre isolé......

Ça coûterait cher avec un resultat très incertain !!!!

Énorme risque de ne pas pouvoir le faire homologuer et circuler sur la voie publique.

 

Bon OK, si on a un très très grand jardin et qu'on veut juste s'amuser dans son jardin avec, pourquoi pas !

 

En plus, y'a pas de SAV, donc réexpédition aux US en cas de gros problème ?

C’est tout à fait vrai. On peut rajouter « ou vivre aux USA ». Mais si c’est un succès, on peut imaginer une homologation pour la CE, bon faudra être patient...

Je remarque qu’ils se sont bien calqués sur le model Tesla (simple, design, grosse batterie) et Tesla pourrait très bien s’en inspirer (model Z[emoji6]) ou racheter cette boîte...

Car aujourd'hui avec les nouvelles normes comme la protection des piétons en cas de choc, y'a du boulôt pour que ce genre de véhicule soit aujourd'hui homologable au niveau CE et national.......

(Donc rien à voir avec les Tesla à ce niveau là !).

 

Et je pense qu'à titre isolé, l'homologation poserait justement un gros souci sur ce point !!!!!!!!

Si c'est pour jouer dans le grand jardin, autant prendre un Sherp.

Ce qui m'a stupéfait, c'est qu'il est capable d'aller sur l'eau (et donc les lacs glacés).

Des aptitudes vraiment incroyables !

3 litres par heure de conso maxi, réservoir de 56 litres + 4 x 58 litres en option (dans le moyeu des roues, pas de place perdue), vitesse maxi 45 km/h, je te laisse calculer l'autonomie

 

Et oui, plus de 4000 bornes sans refaire le plein. Aucun VE ne peut faire ça actuellement.

Difficile d'y croire aux 3 litres par heure !

Même à 45kms/h sur sol plat, je doute réellement qu'il soit capable d'une telle prouesse même pas réalisable par une petite voiture moderne bien plus légère !

Avec les frottements des pneus basse pression (que j'imagine gonflable directement depuis le véhicule), et l'aérodynamique d'une armoire bretonne, c'est simplement impossible !!!!

En franchissement : besoin de couple et puissance, la conso doit exploser !

À vue de nez, je dirais que sagement c'est plutôt 9 litres par heure, et de l'ordre de 20 en franchissement.

Donc pas vraiment "écolo" !

Mais cela peut permettre de se déplacer partout et peut être utile pour certaines personnes dans des régions compliquées.

Il n'y a rien de compliqué. Le moteur c'est un Kubota-V1505-T-E3B, 33 kW de puissance maxi. Le Sherp fait 1300 kg et a 1000 kg de charge utile, et même chargé il flotte encore. Sur terrain sec et plat la conso est d'environ 2 litres par heure. Les 3 litres c'est dans les pires conditions.

Donc après nous avoir introduit le Porsche Cayenne dans une autre conversation maintenant c’est un autre véhicule thermique complètement inutile.

240 g/kWh mini, à 0,83 kg/l, ça fait 2,9 l/h pour 10 kW en moyenne sur une heure, à

1/3 de la puissance donc.

Et environs 9 l/h à pleine puissance dans les marigots.

Tout ça, si la doc Kubota est fidèle à la réalité.

Les sceptiques je vous suggère de contacter le fabricant ou Octacruiser sur YT.

Ah oui j'ai vu une fois le Sherp dans un épisode de Top Gear, celui ou Matt Leblanc chasse le Big Foot au milieu de nulle part. Je crois qu'il avait dit qu'a l'origine c'était un engin Russe. C'était impressionnant tout ce qu'il passait comme obstacles Dans le même épisode ils testaient aussi des moto électriques, des RedShift il me semble.

 

Dommage qu'ils n'avaient pas le Bollinger en prime ça aurait été vraiment sympa

Des nouvelles de Bollinger : le B1 n'a jamais été commercialisé, mais la boîte n'est pas morte, elle a pivoté et produit maintenant des camions. Certains ont apparemment déjà été livrés.
