Question for French Scenic Drivers: Low-Speed Noise and Charging Problems

Messages recommandés

Hello, I am living in South Korea. I would like to explain the reason why I am posting here.

Currently, about 1,000 units of the Renault E-TECH Scenic have been sold in Korea, and around 100 owners are active in a community group. However, many Scenic owners are experiencing noise and vibration issues during low-speed driving when the heater or air conditioner is turned on. In some cases, after the noise occurs, the vehicle even becomes unable to charge, and those cars had to be sent to Renault Korea service centers.

As far as I know, there are about 30,000 Scenic vehicles in France. I am curious to know whether French users are experiencing the same problems, and if so, what kind of response or solutions Renault has provided.

For reference, I have been driving various EVs in Korea for about five years, including the Ioniq 5 and Kona EV. However, this is the first time I have encountered such an issue, which is why I am reaching out to this community.

If anyone has experienced similar symptoms or knows how Renault has addressed them, I would greatly appreciate your insights.

Hi @koreanmansenic

Very sorry for you. As far as I know, it's the 1st time I hear something about this issue.

Problem description you have made make me think about an unbalance of the AC fan axis or the AC fan itself (even if I don't have any explanation about the charge error).

What is the answer provided by Renault Korea about this issue?

Hello, sorry to hear that. I don't have knowloedge of such problem yet
Do you know how many Scenics have the issue ?
Do you have recordings of the noise ?
Maybe you could link us the thread of the community in Korea to have more details ?

Hello, there were lots of complaints of Scenic's HVAC being quite loud (not only in France) but no relation to charging problems whatsoever. May be somewhat related to Korea's climate ? As others suggested, cooling liquid is to be checked but this is about the only thing to be done by yourself.

Hi @koreanmansenic

at the launch of the Megane and Scenic in France there were some complaints about vibrations and noises.

The PAC and airco pumps can be a bit noisier than expected and we can sometimes feel it's vibration in the steering wheel (probably anchored on the same panel).

This noise is louder on the outside than inside (after 15mins of HP charges or after long ride at high speed) and not abnormal if easily covered by music at low volume.

Before the summer 2022, there was some issues with a valve staying closed while the PAC was trying to cool down the battery on a shut down Megane. But that fault was corrected through a system update the same summer. Scenic have not shown that issue at their launch 2 years after.

Scenic did show a battery coolant joint which was leaking on the 400v battery plug... Corroding it.... There was a call back on few impacted vehicles with free exchange of the faulty join (and a redesign on newer models).

This one is the only one that had created battery faults...

On Megane and Scenic, we can very rarely have a loud vibration coming from the aerodynamic flap in the front bumper which closes when charging at high speed and looks like not re-opening if you interrupt the charge when the battery is at its hottest level... Then driving directly on highway against the wind makes the flap vibrate... Stopping by and restarting the car solve the problem. Anyway this hasn't issued any fault on the battery side.
